Jurassic Island and the Parting Sea

Yo, Yo, everyone. Trip here again.

I really don’t remember which film it was, but at the end of this particular entry into the world of dinosaurs, the group of protagonists had just cut, clawed, and cried their way through the Velociraptor-filled jungle foliage. They came bursting out of the abyss, onto a secluded beach expecting to see a military armada sitting there, staged and ready to swoop them off the island to safety.

Nada! Nothing! Not even a stinking crab poking it’s eyes from the sand in fear and trepidation. The Protagonists then turned back to the ominous jungle, and there – they – were …. Velociraptors, drooling in anticipation.

Yep! We all get there. We all feel that way at some point in our lives. Sometimes more than once. What kind of person are we? How do we respond to this kind of gut-wrenching let down, disappointment, fear, rejection … etc., fill in the blank? How we react will ultimately determine the rest of our lives, from that point forward. Will we resist the circumstances? Will we try to change them, or overcome them, or, maybe, try to ignore them?

I, for one, like to think of another story. One that I believe to be literally true. Moses at the Red Sea.

Okay, anyone between the ages of 30 and 100, in the USA, knows “The 10 Commandments,” with Charlton Heston. So in the true version of this story, according to the Bible, Moses had just led millions of Hebrews out of bondage, across the desert, and smack-dab up against the Red Sea … Literally.

Miles to the right, nothing but sea. Miles to the left, nothing but sea. Behind them … the entirety of Egypt’s army baring down on them. What the heck was he going to do. Millions of voices screaming at him, accusing him of leading them to their deaths. He had absolutely NO options. But One!

But – God! Moses did the only thing he could do at that time, and raised his hands in reverence to the Lord, and then, only then, did the sea before him part. Even when there was nothing else that he could do, there was the most important thing that he did. Even when there appears that there is nothing else we can do … then we do what Moses did.

Acknowledge God! Praise God! Thank God! Ask God! Then, Wait on God.

That is the recipe for miracles, success, and true joy.
